Clemson is looking to bounce back after a tough season-opening loss to Georgia and will be eager to defend their home turf, where they’ve won 20 straight night games. Under head coach Dabo Swinney, Clemson has built an impressive resume in prime-time, boasting a 23-3 record in home night games, and they’ll be ready to keep the streak alive against the Mountaineers.

App State ranks second only to Clemson in rushing touchdowns since 2018

For Appalachian State, this game represents a significant test. Coming off a 1-0 start to the season, the Mountaineers are no strangers to putting up a fight, especially in the run game. They rank second only to Clemson in rushing touchdowns since 2018, proving that their offense is capable of grinding out tough yards and finding the end zone. But Clemson’s rushing attack, led by players like Phil Mafah, will be equally fierce, and they’ve scored a rushing touchdown in 53 consecutive home games—the longest active streak in the country.

Historically, Clemson holds a 5-0 advantage over Appalachian State, with their last meeting in 2015 resulting in a 41-10 Tigers victory. But history won’t matter much on Saturday night, with both teams bringing fresh energy to the field.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, who is quickly climbing the ranks in Clemson’s record books, will lead the offense, and all eyes will be on tight end Jake Briningstool, who is within striking distance of breaking several all-time records. On the defensive side, linebacker Barrett Carter, an All-American, will look to disrupt App State’s plans, and freshman Peter Woods will aim to build on his standout performance in the season opener.

This matchup promises a thrilling evening of college football, with Clemson seeking redemption and Appalachian State ready to prove themselves on the big stage. Fans won’t want to miss it! Tune in to the ACC Network at 8:00 p.m. for a night of electrifying action at Death Valley.
